In Proverbs 29 it tells us that “where there is no vision the people perish” and in Hosea 4 it says that “the people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” How many times do we meet Christians who have been believers for many years and yet they do not know what they are called to do, so they do very little? We meet those in their 30’s who are so busy in their life and yet feel unfulfilled. We meet those in their 40’s who are suspecting that there is more to their Christian experience yet they do not know what to do or where to turn to get started. We meet those in their 60’s who had a prophecy 20 years earlier that they would move into the Apostolic calling and yet nothing has happened to move them forward in it. And we meet those in their 70’s who feel that life has passed them by and that they will never achieve the things that they wanted to do for God and that now the time is running very short.
The problem is not God’s will. The problem is not good intentions. The problem is that there is no vision and that no knowledge has been handed down for them to get started. They were overlooked and no plan was made for them. Nobody meant for it to happen that way, but when we fail to plan – we plan to fail.
Ephesians 4 tells us that the 5 fold ministers are used by God to equip the believers for the work of the ministry. So at New Life Valley Ministries we take that very seriously. We have a vision and we have a day to day plan to bring that vision to fruition. No family is left behind. There is a plan that every person can take part in if they want to be used of God and reach the fullness of their potential. Whatever you are called to do, we consider it our personal assignment to find that, and to release you to it in a fruitful and life giving way.
Each saint comes in on an entry level. Whether they are brand new Christians or been a believer for 20 years they enter the vision at the same place. Their perspective upon entry may differ but both need to enter at the same place. The new believer obviously will need the foundational training but the veteran will also need a refresher. He will find the foundational training a valuable asset to explain those concepts to others in his circle of influence. He will learn the vision of the organization and grow in his personal walk with Christ and form relationships with others in the group. It will be a time of revelation and awakening for everyone involved.
Step One – The Foundations
“Essentials For New Believers” is the first step in any new House Church. These 14 weeks of lessons cover the basics of Christianity in a deep and meaningful way, taking the answers to the questions of life directly out of the Bible. One lesson leads naturally into the next and they are designed to give a solid foundation of Christian teaching. These lessons start with salvation, the truth of the Word of God, how to pray, why we should fellowship together, and why should I be baptized? They set the stage for all the future teaching.
Step Two – Deeper Teaching
The first step was an entry level. During those first 14 weeks new people were welcomed each week and encouraged to catch up to the group using the CDs provided by their group leader. They built relationships with one another and became transparent to their new friends opening up and sharing their hearts. This new set however is far more meaty. At this stage we close the House Church to new attenders. Of course we do not turn anyone away who shows up, but we stop actively inviting new people. New attenders are directed to new House Churches opening in other locations. Now we are learning about the Trinity, intercession, worship, deliverance ministry, unity and leadership. These are strong subjects and even the discussion takes on a new level of intensity.
Step Three – Relationships
It is a tragedy of our time that divorce is so prevalent. Families are under assault. People lack the skills to get along and to understand one another. It is not glorifying to God when His people are fighting and miserable. Therefore we have developed 14 weeks of teaching on overcoming relational problems. We learn how to show our love to God, to ourselves and to our families in ways that they will understand. We discover the differences between genders, personality styles and love languages. We practice loving the ones that we love so that we can be effective in loving the world.
Step Four – The Gifts and Callings Of Each Individual
Notice that the first three sections were all about building character. That is because gifts without character is useless. People who speak in tongues, cast out demons, and heal the sick need to live in such a way that day to day we can tell they are Christians. It is not glorifying to God for them to be swearing, driving like idiots, and yelling at their neighbors. So now after many of the unsightly behaviors have been worked out and people have been delivered, healed and made more whole we can focus on the calling in their life. We use teaching, questionnaires and other methods to now determine what each person has been made by God to do. We find those who have the right mix to go into further training to become Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, Pastors and Evangelists. We identify the intercessors, the servant hearted, the worshippers, the hospitality people and the administrators. Then one on one with their leaders each person works out a plan to move forward into the calling that God has for them.
Step Five – Leadership Training
Most people will require to be trained now as a leader. No matter what their gift they will need to understand how to facilitate a group of others. They will need to learn how to lead by servant-hood and not dictatorship. They will need to learn how to help others overcome their issues and what to recommend in times of crisis. This 14 week course is an in depth training that takes a disciple of Christ to the level of being and over-comer with the ability to assist others to becoming disciples and over-comers. It is during this process as well, that the person solidifies his plans for ministry and begins to engage in starting either a House Church or some other ministry based on his personal calling. Whatever he steps out in will begin a new phase in his life and it will also be the beginning for others who join with him as he begins his ministry. So the whole cycle begins again. This is multiplication.
The vision that God has given you is incorporated into the vision that God has given us. It is our prayer that through assisting you to become all that God has called you to be, that you can assist us to become all that God has called us to be, and that together we can change this nation for His glory.
